Caring for organic cotton: our advice

Investing in organic cotton clothing is a choice for a lasting wardrobe and a more responsible approach. Knowing how to care for it matters: unsuitable washing can shrink, fade or damage natural fibres. Here are some guidelines for your RIVHEX® pieces, always giving priority to the care label.

1. Wash at a low temperature

For garments whose label allows washing at 30°C, this temperature is a guide for routine care. Adjust the programme and spin cycle to the garment's instructions too. Washing at 30°C does not guarantee disinfection.

RIVHEX® tip: turn T-shirts and sweatshirts inside out before machine washing to protect embroidery and prints.

2. Use a gentle, environmentally considerate detergent

Choose a detergent suited to the colour and fabric, and follow the recommended dose. Check the label to see whether bleaching is allowed. Avoid routinely adding products the garment does not need.

3. Avoid tumble drying

If the label advises against tumble drying, let the garment air dry. Gently reshape it without pulling on the seams. Dry flat when the weight of a wet garment could stretch the shoulders, and avoid prolonged direct sunlight.

4. Iron at a low temperature

Set the iron according to the label's symbol, rather than relying only on the word “cotton”. If ironing is allowed, preferably work on the reverse and never place the iron directly on a print. Use steam only when the garment's instructions allow it.

5. Store carefully

Fold T-shirts and sweatshirts rather than hanging them, as hangers can stretch the shoulders over time. Store them somewhere dry, away from direct light.

6. Treat stains promptly

Blot the stain gently without spreading it. Choose a treatment suited to the stain and compatible with the care label. Test any product on an inconspicuous area first, especially near a printed design. Avoid drying or ironing a stained area until you have checked the result.

Care that helps clothing last

Looking after a garment helps it last. At RIVHEX®, we design pieces to accompany everyday life over time. Your care plays a part.

Prints and embroidery: the essentials

Care for the fabric and decoration together. Turning the garment inside out, following the washing programme and avoiding direct ironing on a design are useful habits for Héritage T-shirts and RAW graphic styles. For Cocon sweatshirts and hoodies, check the drying instructions too.

A routine for each piece

Before the first wash, read the label and separate colours. For the plain ACCESS T-shirt, also check the product page's advice. Discover other points to consider in our article about T-shirt quality.

For help reading the symbols, see GINETEX care instructions. Choose the ironing temperature from the garment label.
